Patna: Patna district magistrate Kumar Ravi on Friday issued important instructions to the officials concerned for Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA)-India region meet in Patna from February 16 to 19.
The CPA-India region has Speakers of all state Assemblies and in case of bicameral legislature, the Chairmen of the Legislative Councils as well. The Lok Sabha Speaker happens to be the ex-officio chairperson of the body, which works under the aegis of the commonwealth parliamentary association with its headquarters in London.
Patna district magistrate appointed five nodal officers for the programme and instructed them to ensure a peaceful summit in Patna.
The five-member includes sub-divisional officer Ashutosh Verma, additional district magistrate (law and order) Rakesh Dubey, personal secretary of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Navin Kumar, deputy secretary of Bihar Assembly Rajiv Kumar and another deputy secretary of Bihar Assembly Asim Kumar.
The inaugural session will take place at Gyan Bhavan and the parliamentary session will be conducted at the Bihar Assembly. All the arrangements for the India region conference are made by the Lok Sabha secretariat and it does the documentation work as well. The outcome of the conference is documented and is kept as record with the Lok Sabha secretariat as well as in the CPA secretariat in London.
Ajay Kumar Thakur has been appointed the magistrate for the transport cell and Sayed Afsar Hashmi, the deputy superintendent of police for the law-and-order cell.
Ravi said at eight places, help desks would be created for the dignitaries coming to Patna, which includes Patna airport, Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patliputra junction, Danapur junction, Hotel Maurya, Hotel Panache, and Lemon Tree hotel.
The Assembly Speakers and Legislative Councils' Chairmen will share details of the best practices in the legislature of their respective states. Debates will also be held for strengthening the democratic and parliamentary system.
The conference will also provide a platform where the Speakers and the Chairmen of the Legislative Councils will share their views with each other on different topics of importance as far as legislative and parliamentary proceedings are concerned.
Ravi issued an order that all drivers must be in proper dress (black trouser, white shirt, and black shoe) with their respective I-cards.
"It is the duty of the officials concerned to ensure proper arrangement of the delegates and do the fire audit of all the places where they will stay. Around 800 delegates are expected to visit Patna," Ravi said, accompanied by Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaaj.
