Patna, Feb. 19: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today indicated that the Right to Service bill will be introduced in both the Houses in Bihar during the Budget session, starting February 21.
Kumar held a high-level meeting with the officials of general administration department (GAD) in the afternoon and gave a direction to this effect.
After the meeting, general administration department’s principal secretary Dipak Kumar said the state government, which has formulated the bill as part of its policy to provide good governance, would table it in the coming Assembly session.
The bill envisages a stipulated timeframe for delivering important services to citizens. It also stipulates strict censures and punishments to officials who fail to deliver.
Chief Minister also held a high-level meeting with top officials of the state agriculture and food departments, wherein it was decided to strengthen the system of procurement and storage of foodgrains for food security schemes.
Emerging from the meeting, Kumar said his government was firm in its resolve to ensure implementation of the provisions of food security in the state.
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, while reviewing the proposed right to service bill today, indicated that the proposal would be presented in the Legislative Assembly in the forthcoming session, starting February 21.
He said the board also gave approval for the construction of Koilwar Ganga embankment at an estimated cost of Rs 30.07 crore in an attempt to tide over the high pressure current in the Ganga Basin area.
