Muzaffarpur, May 15: The Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bihar University is set to introduce semester system and revamp curriculum of its courses.
The varsity will switch to the semester system from the session starting in June. The new syllabi will also be followed from the same session.
After the University Grants Commission reminded the university to upgrade its syllabi and bring it on a par with that of the central universities, including Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou), the Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bihar University vice-chancellor Rajendra Mishra directed the pro-vice-chancellor, Padmasha Jha, and other members of the academic board of the varsity to review the curriculum.
The members of the board held several meetings and discussed the steps to revamp the curriculum. They studied the syllabus of the central universities for incorporating them in the syllabi of the Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bihar University.
The development officer of the university, Ajay Kumar Srivastava, said: “The university has completed the official procedures to revamp the syllabus. The board members have made a new curriculum. The students of the university will now on follow the pattern of the central universities. The students of the degree courses will now sit for examinations six times at an interval of six months. Four examinations would be conducted for the postgraduate courses.”
He said: “The principals, heads of departments of postgraduate courses and dean of faculties are scheduled to meet on May 18 to finalise the technicalities of implementing the new syllabi. They would discuss the methods of executing the semester system.”
