Schools plan activities for children

Kids look forward to games and learning at summer camps

Patna: Schools have lined up a flurry of activities to make this summer fun.

Swimming, symphony, cooking without fire, modelling, dancing - you name it. Most schools are scheduled to close down after mid-May. Living, playing and sharing adventures together, camps become part of a child's development into a healthy, productive adult.

Children learn to respect one another and how to share. At camp, they improve self-confidence and self-esteem, and learn the social skills of positive interaction that stay with them for a lifetime.

Despite vacation, schools will be buzzing with sports, music, dance, art and craft, painting, photography, technical and communication skill, storytelling and many more.

For Litera Valley, Kankerbagh, the summer camp will start from May 14 to 24 for students of classes I-VIII. The camp is divided into four groups A, B, C and D.

The students will be taught swimming, table tennis, badminton and app development in Group A, symphony, mono act, cooking without fire and poetry in Group B, cricket, chess, robotics, puppetry in Group C and dance, storytelling, art & craft, aero-modelling in Group D.

"The fee is Rs 1,500 per student," said Brajesh Kumar, an administrative manager.

International School has a long list of activities for students. Spoken English classes, swimming, western and classical dance, painting and art and craft are some of the main activities the school has planned for this vacation.

"The school will be closed for summer vacation from May 18 while the summer camp will be held for eight days starting from May 19 to 26," said principal Farhat Hassan.

"The summer camp organised by our school is free of cost not only for students but is also open for parents," said Ajitabh Singh, a physics teacher.

IQ Fiesta, Patliputra, is planning to give personality and intelligence development programmes to the students this summer. The summer camp will be held for three weeks on three different themes as Beach Party, Around the World in 6 days and The Jungle Book, for two-and a-half hours every day. The cost for Week 1 is Rs 2,500, Week 2 is Rs 3,500 and for Week 3 is Rs 4,500, which is for the age group of 3 to 11 years. Garima Dharnidharka, the camp organiser, said: "The days will be full of laughter and fun as we make memories that will last a lifetime."

An organisation called The Kids Square Sparkle, West Boring Canal Road, is organising summer camp called Masti Ki Pathshala for kids between 3 and 12 years. It will conduct activities like yoga, aerobics, music/dance, art & craft, fireless cooking, pool party, games and gifts, health check-up and much more. The fee is Rs 2,500 per child and the camp will start from May 12 to 19. "It's time for fun and masti," said Ritika, a student. The event organiser, Shalini, said: "Hope we can help students make memories and make them learn something new through this camp."

The Seth MR Jaipuria School, Patliputra, is organising a summer camp for students from May 21 to 27 in three different groups, Group1, Group 2 and Group 3. The charge for Group 1 is Rs 1,500-1,900, for Group 2 is Rs 1,800-2,200 and for Group 3 is Rs 2,200-2,500.

"We will conduct activities like clay modelling, block printing, rain dance, basketball, cricket, fireless cooking, time management, freestyle dancing, exotic words, photography, craft skill, poetry and meditation," saidNimisha, an administrative in-charge.
