Schoolgirls to attend film fest

Five students from Shastrinagar government high school would represent the state at the 18th International Children’s Film Festival of India, also known as The Golden Elephant, to be held in Hyderabad from November 14 to 20.

The girls — Priyanshu Soni, Kajal Pathak, Sukanya Kumari, Varsha Mehta and Rashmi Kumari — would be among the 1.5lakh children selected by Bal Chitra Samiti of the Government of India. Sukanya, Varsha and Rashmi were national champions in science drama competitions. Priyanshu and Kajal are winners of zonal quiz competitions.

S.K. Malviya, director of film publicity, Bihar, said: “Lyricist Gulzar, actor Ranbir Kapoor and information and broadcasting minister Manish Tewari would be present at the inauguration.”
