Patna, Sept. 11: A student of Holy Mission School has allegedly been asked to pay the fees of two years to obtain a transfer certificate.
Saurabh Choudhary, a Class XI student, who was about to leave the school, got the shock of his life when he was told that he would have to pay the fees of two years just to obtain a transfer certificate.
The school employees earlier assured Saurabh, who scored 92.8 per cent marks in Class X examination, that he would be entitled to cent per cent scholarship, which does away with the admission fee. He had taken admission in Class XI in June this year. The school officials also told him that he would have to pay not more than Rs 32,000 to clear his Class XII board examination.
Saurabh was not charged anything for admission but he had to shell out Rs 8,000 in the name of “development fee”.
Saurabh, who was influenced by the promises of the school, found out that things were different after he took admission. “I was told during the admission that I won’t have to pay more than Rs 32,000 for classes XI and XII and also to take the board examination. On the other hand, it was unfortunate on my part that after taking admission, I was told by senior students that the school charges a minimum of around Rs 60,000.”
Shocked, when Saurabh decided to move out of the school and went to the principal’s room to ask for a transfer certificate, he was told that he would have to pay the fees for classes XI and XII to obtain the same. The principal of the school, Reema, refused to speak on the issue.
Besides, the school also refused to refund the Rs 8,000 that the school charged him. Senior students of the school alleged that the school charges exorbitant rates from them.
“The CBSE has fixed Rs 100 for registration in Class XII but the school charges much more for it,” a student said.
School director Rajesh Kumar said: “I would enquire about the matter on Monday. I don’t think the principal demanded the fees for two years. It must have been just for Class XI seeing the loss of one seat. The child has not paid the fees for any month yet.”
