Patna, July 11: Police are likely to question BJP MLA from Danapur Asha Sinha in connection with the arrest of seven people, who were involved in the daylight murder of Garikhana resident Harish Paswan on Saturday.

“The probe in this matter is on and the MLA is likely to be questioned,” a police officer said. Sources said since the seven arrested men were using the Scorpio of Asha, hours after the murder, the role of the MLA was questionable.

Moreover, now after the murder of Paswan, it is a gang-war-like situation between the dreaded Ritlal Yadav gang and its opposition, police sources said. Ritlal murdered Asha’s husband Satya Narayan Sinha in 2003 during a rally of former chief minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad.

“The investigation in this matter is going on and the MLA is likely to be questioned,” a police officer told The Telegraph. Three motorcycle-borne criminals killed Harish Paswan on Saturday.

The police had started an investigation into the role of the MLA after Uma Devi, the mother of the deceased, told the police that some armed men had visited her home at Garikhana a day before the incident in the same vehicle and had threatened her son.

The mother alleged that Asha Sinha had a role in the killing of her son and the murder happened on her instructions.

Harish was known to be close to Ritlal, who is presently lodged at Beur Central Jail.

A few hours after Harish was murdered, Khagaul police had seized a Scorpio car belonging to the MLA in which nine criminals, including seven named accused in the murder, were travelling. Two country-made pistols, a foreign-made pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition, Rs 35,000 and eight cell phones were also seized.

The arrested persons have been identified as Arvind Paswan, Hullar Paswan, Rajesh Rai alias Biltu Gope, Ananjay Kumar, Amit Kumar, Satish Kumar, Deepak alias Teni, Vikas Kumar and the driver of the MLA, Birendra Kumar.

Patna SSP Alok Kumar said that those arrested were being interrogated for further information into the case.
