Visitors at the miniature painting gallery inaugurated at Patna Museum on Tuesday. At least 150 works are on display at the facility, including the replica of ancient rock paintings of Bhimbetka rock shelters in Madhya Pradesh and Ajanta caves (Maharashtra). Also present is Patna Kalam, the world’s first independent school of painting dealing exclusively with commoners and their lifestyle. JPN Singh, the additional director of Patna Museum, said some European art forms have also been displayed in the new gallery. “We have also kept a golden Buddhist manuscript on display in the Buddha’s relic chamber. The golden manuscript is one of the oldest of its kind and contains Buddha’s preachings written in gold,” he said. Text by Piyush Kumar Tripathi, picture by Ranjeet Kumar Dey |
