RJD's interactive idea

Leaders to address people's problems at party office

The RJD plans to organise interactive sessions at the party office between ministers and the common people.

The party believes that ministers interacting directly with the people will help the party keep its ear to the ground.

In the Grand Alliance government, there are 28 ministers under chief minister Nitish Kumar out of which 12 ministers are from the RJD.

RJD legislature party leader in the Assembly Tejaswi Yadav and RJD state unit president Ram Chandra Purbey convened a meeting recently with office-bearers in which the decision was taken.

"It was Tejaswiji's idea that the RJD ministers should sit in the party office for at least one hour once a week and attend to people coming from far-flung places with their problems. I discussed the idea with our party national president Laluji and he has given a go-ahead. Now the RJD ministers will sit in the party office to interact with the people who have complaints related to respective departments," Purbey told The Telegraph.

When this correspondenttold him, Nitish already holds a janata durbar every week, Purbey said: "Do not call it a janata durbar. Here RJD ministers will sit for a certain time and interact with visitors to listen their complaints and other issues related to the party as well. The main focus is on solving problems. At the end of the day, the application will be forwarded to the department concerned."

There is no rule that forces the RJD ministers to visit the party office on a regular basis. However, now they will have to spend time with visitors.

Purbey said: "Laluji asked me to prepare a roster of the ministers who will sit in the party office once a week and I am busy making that list. It is not complete yet. Once I am through, I will get back to you. However, the ministers will start the interaction sessions once the panchayat polls are over."

Lalu himself had inspected the office thrice and expressed disappointment that senior leaders seldom spend time in the party office after the RJD came back in power.

Tejaswi said: "It is important for our ministers to sit in the party office and listen to the problems of the people, especially the downtrodden. People should not feel that after coming into power, RJD has forgotten them. There are many workers who want to give suggestions and opinions, they should not go unheard."
