Patna, Nov. 23: The RJD's national returning officer and senior leader Jagdanand Singh today said it was time for the party's organisational polls, as the office-bearers' present term ends on January 20, 2016.
Jagdanand said organisational polls for 2016 to 2019 would be held before end of term. Election would be conducted for the post of party president, state unit president and national council, central, district and state committee members.
"Every party member can apply for any post," Jagdanand said. The RJD chief's name would be formally announced on January 17, after the party's national council meets.
Asked if Lalu would retain the top post, Jagdanand said: "We follow a democratic set-up. Anyone is allowed to contest for the post of president."
But Lalu is expected to retain the top post, while state unit chief Ram Chandra Purbey could lose the post.
