Patna: The main Opposition party in Bihar, the RJD, is considering moving a no-confidence motion against the Nitish Kumar government just as the Telugu Desam Party has moved the motion against the Narendra Modi government in the Lok Sabha.
While the TDP motion is over alleged reneging of promises made to Andhra Pradesh, the RJD motion would be over the corruption and crime in general and the rape of minor girls at the Muzaffarpur shelter home in particular.
Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said on Friday that his party may move the no-confidence motion in the monsoon session that started on Friday, or in the next session.
"Corruption is rampant in Bihar and the crime graph has touched the sky," the RJD leader told journalists on the Assembly premises. "Scam after scam is taking place but the government is not bothered. It is Nitish ji who brought the RSS into Bihar and under his government communal violence erupted in many districts. He does not have any moral right to continue with this government. We will also move the no-confidence motion against the present government - if not this monsoon session, then in the next Assembly session."
He said the Muzaffarpur episode - in which minor girls were raped at a shelter home run by an NGO - is not an isolated one. Such conditions are prevailing in many shelter homes in Bihar but Nitish is not bothered over such issues, Tejashwi alleged.
"The shelter home was run by an NGO (Seva Sankalp Evam Vikas Samiti) and Nitish ji had campaigned in election with the NGO's proprietor (Brajesh Thakur). He (Nitish) holds the home department portfolio as well and under his nose such things were going on in the shelter home," Tejaswhi alleged.
Asked why the RJD would move the no-confidence motion as it does not have the numbers, Tejashwi said a no- confidence motion is not only to bring down a government but also to make it responsible towards the people who have given their precious votes.
"We have been raising the issue of crime, corruption and communalism in Bihar but the CM is not listening us so we may move the no-confidence motion against his government," Tejashwi stressed.
Taking on the CM over his remark that nobody can teach him lessons on secularism, Tejashwi said Nitish can never be secular if he is inviting people like Amit Shah and hugging him in public.
Tejashwi later tweeted a picture of Congress president winking in the Lok Sabha. "Oh that wink my friend! Hit them hard where it hurts. Congratulations for unearthing their mines of lies & a fantastic speech," Tejashwi wrote.
