Some rivers in Bihar on Monday showed a receding trend while the rest continued to be in spate amid the prevailing flood situation.
According to an official of Central Water Commission, the water level in Ganga was 82cm below the danger mark at Farakka and 67cm below the danger mark at Sahebganj in Muzaffarpur.
Other rivers, the water level of which dipped at certain points, were Ghaghra, Kamla-Balan and Gandak. Rivers that continued to be in spate, were Punpun, Kosi and Bagmati.
Falgu, which submerged NH-110 in Jehanabad on Sunday, did not show any change on Monday as well and continued overflowing its banks.
India Meteorological Department has predicted moderate rain in catchment areas of all rivers.
Water resources department officials said all embankments in Bihar are safe and no damage had been reported till 5pm on Monday. A department official said engineers had been deployed at all vulnerable points to watch embankments.
An official of the disaster management department said a National Disaster Response Force team had been deployed at Nalanda and another State Disaster Response Force team in Purnea.
