Patna, Jan. 19: Bihar State Human Rights Commission (BSHRC) has sought a detailed report from the state administration in connection with the alleged sexual exploitation of Rupam Pathak, principal of a Purnea-based public school booked on the charge of killing BJP MLA Rajkishore Keshari.

Taking cognisance of a petition submitted to BSHRC by Rupam’s mother Kumud Mishra last week, chairman of the commission Justice (retd) S.N. Jha today issued a directive to the director-general of police (DGP) Neel Mani to submit a detailed report within three weeks.

The BSHRC chairman also directed the inspector-general (prisons) to ensure proper security to Rupam, who is lodged in Purnea divisional jail, after she had allegedly knifed Keshari to death at his ancestral house on January 4.

When contacted, Justice Jha confirmed that the DGP has been directed to send a detailed report on the incident to the commission within three weeks.

“The commission will decide the next course of action on the basis of the report submitted by the DGP,” he added.

Mishra had petitioned to BSHRC on January 6 seeking its intervention. She also alleged that Rupam apprehended threat to her life in the prison as the slain MLA’s relatives might hatch a conspiracy to eliminate her in jail.

Mishra had also petitioned to the State Women’s Commission the same day.
