Patna, Oct. 12: The soul of the crusader, who wanted to stand up against the plight of Biharis in Maharashtra but was shot dead by the Mumbai Police, is sure to rest in peace now.

Come November, a film based on Rahul Raj, who left Patna for Mumbai on October 26, 2008 to allegedly kill Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray, will hit the silver screen. The Mumbai police at Kurla killed Rahul on October 27, 2008 in a bus (route number 332) after he hijacked it.

The shoot for the film 332 Mumbai to India has been completed and is scheduled for November 12 release.

When The Telegraph contacted Kundan Prasad Singh, father of Rahul Raj about the film that is based on the encounter of his son, he said: “It is almost two years that the incident happened. I am yet to recover from the trauma. I still don’t understand how could the police shoot a 23-year-old boy.”

Asking about the reason behind Rahul’s visit to Mumbai, he said: “We all know how people from Bihar were treated in Mumbai. Rahul must have gone there to protest against it but instead of shooting, the police could have used some other tactics to arrest him. The shootout was a complete mockery on the part of the Mumbai administration.”

Singh added: “I am happy that somebody has made a film based on my son but he should not be projected in a wrong way. The facts and circumstances should not be doctored. I really appreciate the move because films play a very significant role in the society and it will bring out the truth for sure.”

Director of the film Mahesh Pandey said: “Rahul’s incident is real. Nowadays, many youths get killed in police encounters but the question arises how real are these encounters? We have to find a satisfactory answer. Rahul’s incident forced me to direct the film.”

Pandey added that words like bhaiya and Marathi have been dropped from the film after the censor board raised objections. The board has also asked to drop a dialogue in the film pointed at UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Producer of 332 Mumbai to India Sangeet Shivan said: “The film is based on north Indians and Marathis. In the film we have tried to bring out the issue of Mumbai and to whom it belongs. The film has undergone several editing sessions since members of the censor board asked for some changes. It took me over a month to get a censor certificate.”
