Bhagalpur, Aug. 26: More than 50 armed Maoists clad in police uniform raided Phoolwaria Kodasi hamlet under Sikendra in Naxalite-hit Jamui district late last night and forced the villagers to attend a jan adalat (kangaroo court) at the foothills of Latchuar hills, on the outskirts of the village.
The rebels asked the villagers to influence Baldev Koda, Lakhan Koda and Pintu Roy to surrender before them. The rebels held the trio responsible for killing eight Naxalites and snatching their arms, ammunition and three motorcycles on February 8 last year.
The Reds also clarified their stand before the villagers. They said the villagers had nothing to fear and that they would live in peace. The rebels also advised the villagers to keep a distance from the police.
