Patna, June 16: The state today received 1418MW power from the central sector — an all-time high in the recent months. Yet, several pockets of the city experienced frequent power cuts because of the snag in Fatuha super grid sub-station’s power transformer.

The transformer developed snag two weeks ago. The power board authorities said it would be repaired by Saturday.

Patna Electric Supply Undertaking general manager-cum-chief engineer S.K.P. Singh told The Telegraph: “The engineers from outside the state are trying their best to repair the snag. We hope the power transformer of the super grid sub-station would be repaired by Saturday.”

The Fatuha super grid sub-station supplies power to grid sub-stations at Gai Ghat, Mithapur and Katra. They, in turn, supply power to eastern and some parts of central Patna.

The residents of Rajendra Nagar, Guljarbagh, Patna City, Kankerbagh, Ashok Nagar Bahadurpur, Agamkuan, Hanuman Nagar and Gai Ghat have been forced to live without power for three to five hours every day over the past two weeks for the snag in the transformer.

Production hit

Two units (six and seven) of National Thermal Power Corporation at Kahalgaon have stopped generation because of coal shortage. The power production at the state-run Barauni Thermal Power Station and Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station also came to a naught.
