A 45-year-old realtor was shot dead outside his house in Patna City area on Friday morning.

The incident occurred in the busy Daadar Mandi area under Alamganj police station in Patna City.

The victim, Jeetendra Singh, was rushed to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) where the doctors pronounced him “brought dead”. While the police refused to divulge any information about the murder, sources said cops were working on two theories — either the victim, who had a criminal past, was targeted by a gang or eliminated by his business rivals.

Jeetender was alone at the spot when the assailants opened fire. No one exactly knows how many people were involved in the attack and how they killed the realtor.

Neighbours said they heard more than six fire shots. Police sources said some people called Jeetendra, who was watering plants in his portico, and shot him as soon as he reached them. The total number of assailants could be five to six, the sources added.

“At this moment, nothing much can be said as the statements are still being recorded,” an officer at the Alamganj police station said.

Police officers claimed the man had a criminal history and the murder could be a result of the same. “We have discovered he has some criminal history. Though details of the same cannot be furnished at this moment, the murder could be a result of the same. The matter is being investigated and the body has been sent for a post-mortem,” the officer added.

A relative of the deceased told The Telegraph that the family members of Jeetendra were clueless about how the murder happened.

“His (Jeetendra’s) wife and five children were inside the house when the attack happened. They did not see the assailants. We have come to know from people that the assailants probably came on foot. They shot Jeetendra and ran away. They fled on at least three motorbikes parked at a distance from the spot of crime,” the relative said.

Since Jeetendra was involved in real estate business, the murder could be a result of the business rivalry too, police sources said.
