Patna, July 29: A mob lynched a 24-year-old youth on Wednesday after he was allegedly caught outraging the modesty of a deaf and dumb minor girl in Samastipur district, 90 km northeast of Patna.
The incident took place around 9.30 am at Belamegh village under the jurisdiction of Ujiarpur police station. The alleged offender, Lalo Paswan, was found outraging the girl's modesty inside a locked room.
Police said the victim, deaf and dumb and aged around 12 years, was admitted to Sadar hospital in Samastipur in a serious condition.
She was bleeding profusely when some residents spotted her in the alleged offender's house.
The girl's parents said she had gone to graze cattle in the nearby field in the morning when the accused lured her to his house.
Her father told a police officer: "We were looking for her since 8am. A neighbour sounded us around one-and-a-half hours later."
A police officer deputed at Ujiarpur police station, under whose jurisdiction the area falls, said: "The girl's parents were looking for her since morning. She was found in her tormentor's house in a serious condition. Thereafter residents thrashed the youth, leading to his instant death."
Samastipur superintendent of police (SP) Suresh Prasad Choudhary said additional police forces have been deployed at the village . "The girl's body was sent to Sadar hospital for post-mortem," he said. Rape has been confirmed and an FIR was filed in this connection. Also, Ujiarpur police station house officer (SHO) Maduranjan Kumar said, an FIR was lodged in connection with Lalo's lynching on a statement by his father Aklu Paswan. Thirteen persons have been made accused. Maduranjan claimed all the accused were absconding after the incident. "Raids are on to arrest those involved in the murderous attack on the youth," he said.
