Patna: The work on Kachchi Dargah-Bidupur six-lane bridge will continue even in monsoon as an order has been issued not to stall the work like it used to be earlier.
Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, the managing director of Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL), the nodal agency for the project, has asked officials concerned to make arrangements accordingly so that work could be carried out in the rainy season as well.
Agarwal issued the order during his site inspection on the Bidupur side two days back along with the officials concerned.
"Work is going on in full swing and I have given the order to continue the work in the rainy season as well. Though the area would be filled with water, the deadline has to be met at any cost. I have issued the order to make the arrangements according. I visited the base camp in Bidupur to check the status of the work," Agarwal said.
The bridge is being constructed at a cost of Rs 4,988.40 crore and executed by Korean firm Daewoo Engineering and Construction Company Limited, in a joint venture with Indian firm L&T India.
Asian Development Bank (ADB) has given a loan of Rs 3,396 crore and rest is borne by the state.
Agarwal said work on the approach road has also started.
The total length of the project is 22.76km, including the 9.76-km main bridge. Rs 696.6 crore has been spent on land acquisition and the main bridge would cost Rs 4291.80.
The bridge would have its northern end near Bidupur in Vaishali district and southern end at Kachchi Dargah in Patna district.
The approach road would be 13km in length .
On the status of the project, Agarwal said: "As far as the main bridge is concerned, 57 out of 67 well foundation have been completed. Also, 41 out of 67 sub-structure has been completed and the execution will start by September 2018. The approval of the superstructure is under review by project management and authority engineer (PMAE) and casting the segment is expected by September."
The deadline to complete the project is January 2021. Agarwal added: "The south approach pile foundation design has been approved whereas the north approach is under progress. The work on substructure of the south approach has also been approved and work will start by September whereas the superstructure is under progress."
The north sub-structure and superstructure are also under progress and execution will start by December 2018.
