Come February 1, IIT-Patna will start its quest for not only the best amateur photographer or little scientist but also the most fashionable student across the country.

For the first time, students of the premier technical institute will walk the ramp, with their fellow friends from other IITs and NITs, at fashion show “Verve” during “Anwesha”, its annual fest.

It is not known whether another “Student of the Year” will be found or not but “Verve” will certainly change the dimension of a fest at IIT-Patna.

The three-day campus extravaganza would also witness performance by reputable bands. However, the name of the band is yet to be decided.

Several cultural and technical competitions would also be held in the fourth edition of “Anwesha”, or “quest”, which focuses to chart the quest of every individual to reach his or her full potential.

Eshan Balsara, a third-year computer science student at IIT-Patna, said: “Since the last two editions of ‘Anwesha’, we have been organising band performance.” In 2012, New Delhi-based Faridkot made everyone dancing to its rhythm.

Like previous editions, “Anwesha” this year will have a comedian performing. While last year it was Kumar Viswas, this year Nitin Gupta, better known as Rivaldo, is likely to perform on the last day of “Anwesha”.

Besides performance by guest bands, the IIT-Patna will offer its stage to budding talent of its own musicians. At least 10 such bands are expected to regale 10,000-odd people in the audience.

E. Ramu, a third-year electrical branch student, said there are series of technical events where students can exhibit their technical knowhow of computer coding, circuit designing, robotic racing among other events. The second day of “Anwesha” will witness scientific project competition of Patna school students. Another first to start in the fest is a photography contest.

V.V. Sairaj, another third-year student, said: “Interested students who love photography can upload their pictures on ‘Anwesha’ website. A team of experts would select the best picture for an award.”

During the three-day fest, there will be quiz competition on space technology also. “The event, ‘Six thinking hat’, which is basically a management event, will asses the students’ capability to cope with a given situation,” Sairaj added. Explaining the event, Sairaj said a participant would be given a said emotion such as anger, happiness and on such emotion he would be asked an act on a given situation.
