Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) chief Lobsang Sangay on Sunday accused the Chinese government of preventing devotees from attending the Kalchakra ceremony led by the Dalai Lama.

"CTA representatives in Geneva will submit a report to United Nations UNO and to US President Donald Trump once he joins office later this month. Our representatives will raise the issue of atrocities by China and unite all Tibetans living in different countries across the globe to garner support of world community and mount pressure on the Chinese government to ensure autonomy to Tibet," said Sangay.

"The China government threatened Tibetans attending Kalchakra ceremony that action would be taken against them such as striking off names of their wards from schools, denied health services, electricity and water supply and also face imprisonment," said Sangay.

"In view of the threat, thousands of devotees from Tibet who had reached Bodhgaya for Kalchakra ceremony returned to Tibet," Sangay, whose name appears as Prime Minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile on the CTA website, told newsmen in Bodhgaya.

"Kalchakra puja is a religious event where Tibetans congregate in large numbers. It is also an occasion when the message of unity among Tibetans is delivered to the world. India is the place where Buddhism originated. The Dalai Lama is making efforts to spread Buddhism across the globe by organising Kalchakra puja on different occasions," said Sangay.

"This is the reason why the China government has stopped Tibetans from attending the Kalchakra puja in Bodhgaya," he added. "The CTA has been able to impress the White House to extend support to the movement. Our spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has met former US President Barack Obama on four occasions and apprised him of the atrocities on Tibetans by China."
