Chhapra, Jan. 3: The state government has decided to generate employment opportunities for 40,000 youths this year.

The government has fixed a target to arrange employment for 5 lakh people over the next five years through employment fairs, where the government would only act as a facilitator. To achieve the target every year, one lakh youths would be provided long-term skill training and five lakh would be given short-term skill training through Industrial Training Institutes.

Labour minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal told The Telegraph that the training programmes have been organised for youths from both urban and rural areas. Sigriwal said district-level employment fairs will be organised in Chhapra, Siwan and Gopalganj on January 6, 7 and 8 respectively. He added 25 employers will attend the fairs and at least 5,000 appointments will be made. Hero Honda, Hardwar, Vardhman Textiles, are among few of the companies that will take part in these fairs. Two companies from Chhapra will also take part in the fair.
