Buxar, Sept 9: Sarwari (13), a student of Class VIII, and hundreds of her classmates are praying for former Maharaja of Dumraon, Bahadur Kamal Singh’s health.
The former royal is being treated for paralysis at a New Delhi hospital in a month when he rarely leaves station, as two programmes are held every year by girls of a local government school, Maharani Usharani Middle school — one of the biggest contributions of the royal family — perform.
This is the time Sarwari could have directly sought Kamal Singh’s blessings at a programme where little girls of a local government school, Maharani Usharani Middle school — one of the biggest contributions of the royal family — perform. Young students of this school — established by Kamal Singh on land he donated at Rajgarh campus in 1958 for the welfare of girls — performed dramas and songs based on concurrent issues on every year, on September 9 and 29, respectively. But on Monday, the enthusiasm was lacking as their former king was away.
Everybody is now praying that he attends the next function on September 29.
Schools like Maharani Usharani Madhya Vidyalaya and Raj High School never forget to organise cultural programmes on the occasion of Kamal Singh or his wife, the late Maharani’s birthday.
Singh is popular as the father of education of not only Buxar district, but also Bhojpur district, for contributing land for running a college where hundreds of students study.
Among those who attended Monday’s function was the district sub-divisional officer. He commended the efforts of young students and said their performance mesmerised the audience.
