Patna, June 14: Power consumers in some areas of west Patna may get lucky and face less power cuts.
Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (Pesu) is contemplating to supply power to some areas under Khagaul grid sub-station from Jakkanpur grid sub-station.
Areas such as Boring Road, Boring Canal Road, Basawan Park, Shivpuri, Anandpuri, SK Puri, North SK Puri, Anandpuri, Patliputra, New Patliputra, Rajiv Nagar, Indrapuri, Maheshnagar, Vivekanand Park and AN Path among others at present, receive supply from the 33KV Khagaul I and Khagaul III feeders, 30km west of Patna town area, through SK Puri and AN College power sub-stations.
If these feeders break down or develop technical snags, the areas would be supplied power from Jakkanpur grid sub-station through new and alternate 33KV feeders, which would be connected with the SK Puri and AN College power sub-stations.
Rajiv Nagar resident Ravindra Kumar Singh said: “Pesu’s move is a welcome step, as it would reduce the long haul of power cuts. Pesu should also have explained as when the alternate source be created.”
“We have carried out survey work for laying an alternate source of power supply through 33KV feeders in some of the areas (aforementioned areas) of west Patna. In event of breakdown in the Khagaul I and III feeders, the supply could be restored in the areas in a quick span of time,” said Pesu (west) superintending engineer Dilip Kumar Singh.
Stating that materials such as cables have been procured for the purpose, Singh said the work on additional 33KV feeders would start soon. The laying of alternate source of power supply would benefit 55,000 consumers, a source said.
“A new 33KV feeder would also be laid for supplying power to Rajapur power sub-station from Digha grid sub-station,” said Singh.
