The North and South Bihar Power Distribution Companies have launched text and email alert service for their consumers to inform them about their pending electricity bills.
The consumers would have to furnish their mobile phone numbers, along with e-mail IDs at the bill collection counters. They can also submit mobile numbers and e-mail IDs on the respective sites of both the distribution companies or the consumers can also give their number and e-mail ID to the meter readers who visit their houses.
To furnish details about mobile number and e-mail ID on the website, a consumer would have to log on to www.nbpdcl.in and www.sbpdcl.in and will have to click on the “view and pay your bills” link and submit registration details.
“We have launched this service in Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (Pesu) area some 15 days ago. We have witnessed a good response from the people in the past fortnight. Around 20,000 people have registered their mobile numbers in just 15 days for the purpose,” Sanjay Kumar Agrawal, the managing director of North and South Bihar Power Distribution Companies said.
“The service is being launched in all the 38 districts falling under the two distribution companies, which caters to the need of around 40 lakh power consumers,” Agrawal said.
Once a consumer’s mobile number and e-mail ID is registered, the consumer would receive an SMS and e-mail alert once the bill is generated at the end of a bill cycle.
The SMS and e-mail alert would give information about pending bills, if any, and the quantum of current bill along with the last date of payment.
If any consumer could not receive an electricity bill because of some reasons, he/she can deposit the bill on the basis of the text alert, Agrawal said, adding that consumers can also download their bills from their respective sites by furnishing their electricity account/bill ID.
