Petition against Hardik
Patna: A PIL was filed in the high court requesting it to restrain Hardik Patel (the face of the Patels' quota agitation in Gujarat) to come to Bihar to campaign for the Assembly elections.
Filed by one Thakur Chandan Kumar Singh, he has apprehended a law and order problem if he arrives here.
Directive
Patna: A single bench of the high court on Friday directed the state government to start afresh the process of selection for members of district consumer forum in Sheohar. The order was passed while hearing a PIL filed by one Rajmangal Prasad Gupta alleging irregularities in the selection process.
Rule jibe
Chhapra: Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said the 35-year rule of Congress, the 15-year rule of Lalu Prasad and the nine-year rule of Nitish Kumar have brought Bihar to its lowest ebb. He said this while addressing a public meeting at Umdha village.
CM pledge
Chhapra: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday said if catapulted to power, his government would provide 35 per cent reservation to women in state government Jobs. Addressing a meeting on the premises of Gogal Singh Inter College at Nayagaon, he said the crime graph in BJP-ruled states had soared. Nitish said Bihar will be ruled by Biharis only and not by outsiders. He said by 2016 electricity and drinking water would be made available in each house.
Clean call
Patna: The spokesperson of Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, Ajay Kumar, on Friday appealed to writers, artists and other intelligentsia to vote for candidates having a clean image in the Assembly elections for a healthy democracy.
Growth claim
Patna: Union parliamentary affairs minister Venkaiah Naidu on Friday said the Assembly elections will be crucial for the country's economy, as if the NDA gets a majority, important pending bills will be passed. BJP Rajya Sabha MP and minister of petroleum and natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan said the NDA would get a clear majority in the polls.
