Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Tuesday added a new circle to the city.
Named Patliputra circle, it would comprise five gram panchayats recently added in the PMC, including Digha, Kurji (including Patliputra Colony) and Mainpura. Apart from the newly included gram panchayats, the Patliputra circle will take in 13 existing wards of the existing new capital circle. The 16 wards left after carving out 13 from the existing new capital circle, will form the revised new capital circle.
The decision was taken during the meeting of the empowered standing committee of the PMC. Apart from the formation of the new circle, the PMC also decided to procure around 1,500 sanitation equipment, under the much-delayed Patna solid waste management project.
The standing committee also decided to hold camps in different areas in Patna for feedbacks from residents, on which, component of three urban resolves among the seven pledged by the chief minister, to be taken up first.
The three urban resolves include water supply, drainage and roads to every house. The urban development department had in June-July conducted an infrastructure survey in all 140 urban local bodies in the state to assess the condition with regard to the three civic amenities.
"The empowered standing committee chaired by mayor Afzal Imam on Tuesday approved the Patliputra circle. This will include five gram panchayats in Kurji-Digha areas recently merged with the PMC. The areas north of Bailey Road will go into Patliputra circle and those on the south of Bailey Road will be in the new capital circle," said Vishal Anand, the executive officer with the new capital circle of the PMC.
