Patna, Aug. 30: Lack of infrastructure is proving to be an impediment in following the human resource ministry’s directive to ensure students get to watch the Prime Minister's live Teachers’ Day speech.

“We have received a letter from the ministry but it will not be possible to ensure that all students listen to the PM’s address,” education minister Brishin Patel said today.

The state has around 76,000 government schools. The address, followed by a question and answer session, will be telecast live on Doordarshan from 3pm to 4.45pm.

“District education officers (DEOs) have been directed. Schools in remote areas would have to arrange TV sets and power,” an official said.

Gaya DEO Rajiv Ranjan said a meeting has been scheduled on September 1. “The speech would be broadcast on radio. It is difficult to get TVs on rent. We need antennas. Many schools don’t have power. Gaya has around 3,300 schools and around 100 have got power connection,” Prasad said.
