According to an alert issued by India Meteorological Department on Thursday evening, cyclonic storm Phailin remained static over east-central Bay of Bengal during the day

It is expected to move northwest and cross north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast between Kalingapatnam and Paradip, close to Gopalpur (Odisha), by October 12 evening as a severe cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 175-185kmph
