Bihar State Bar Council (BSBC) on Tuesday launched a pension scheme for lawyers.
Bar Council of India (BCI) chairperson Manan Kumar Mishra said Bihar was the second state after Odisha to implement the plan.
According to the scheme, a lawyer would get Rs 5,000 per month either after attaining the age of 65 or 30 years of practice at the Bar.
A lawyer would have to get enrolled with the state Bar council by making a one-time payment.
Lawyers below the age of 30 would have to make a one-time payment of Rs 7,000, while those above 30 years would have to deposit Rs 10,000. A sum of Rs 15,000 has been fixed for senior advocates of the high court.
In case of death of the member, his/her dependent or nominee would be paid Rs 2,500 every month as for the next 10 years or the nominee can take Rs 2 lakh at one time.
