Golf tourney
The 44th Patna Open golf championship for amateur golfers will begin at the golf club on March 3, and over 200 golfers from Patna, Delhi, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Varanasi, Jaipur and Kanpur are expected to participate in the three-day tournament.
Manik Vedsen, secretary of the club, said: "The golfers will compete in 16 categories. On the first day, seniors, ladies (18 hole tournament) and children (19-24 handicap) who are members of Patna Golf Club will play". He added that on the second day, players will vie for the 0-18 handicap (60 years and above) for 18 holes tournament, and on the final day 9-Hole Stableford competitions will be organised. Arvind Singh, captain of the club, said the golf club will organise a summer camp this year for 30 school children who will be trained free of cost. The aim is to promote sports among the youth.
