Capping ceremony

The College of Nursing of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) conducted a capping ceremony of nursing students on Thursday.

In some schools, a capping ceremony presents new nursing students their caps before beginning their clinical (hospital) training.

The principal of the College of Nursing, Anuja Daniel, welcomed the dignitaries on this occasion and highlighted the progress of the institution during the last year. "Twenty students, who had passed this time, got jobs in government sector. Nursing is a noble profession, which is dedicated to humanity. We hope our students will carry forward the great legacy of their college when they start working at various institutions," she said. N.R. Biswas, director of IGIMS, askedall the nursing college students to imbibe the character of Florence Nightingale. Among those present on the occasion were dean, research-cum-medical superintendent P.K. Sinha, principal of IGIMS Uday Kumar and others.

Credit seminar

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) organised a state credit seminar at a hotel on Thursday. During the seminar, chief guest Vijoy Prakash, the agriculture production commissioner, unveiled the "state focus paper 2016-2017". Vijoy said the state focus paper is an aggregation of district wise potential of credit flow assessed for all 38 districts of Bihar, which estimates the total credit potential of Rs 1,00,192 crore under priority sector for 2016-2017. Chief general manager of regional office of Nabard Ranjit Kumar Das emphasised the need to enhance the agriculture investment loan for speeding up capital formation in the farming sector. "There is a need to rejuvenate micro-finance activities, both self-help groups and jointly liability group modes," he said. He also urged the banking fraternity to make an effort to usher in universal financial inclusion embedded with ATM enabled inter-bank operative cards.

Entrepreneurs' meet

The Bihar Entrepreneurs' Association organised a news meet on information technology start-ups at Patna Youth Hostelon Thursday.

During the event, awards were given to various agencies under categories of best performing banks in issuance of total Kisan Credit Card (KCC), best performing branches of rural banks in disbursement under area development scheme, rural infrastructure development and farmers' club promotion.

The news meet was addressed by Bihar Entrepreneurs' Association president Kaushalendra and secretary Abhishek Kumar.

Kaushalendra said there will be a pitching round of different start-ups who got incubated in first phase of IT incubation programme at Biscouman Centre, Patna, and those having innovative ideas could apply in the second phase of the IT incubation programme. "In the first phase of IT incubation centre programme, 31 out of 100 start-up ideas had been already shortlisted," he said.

"This event will work in getting applications for different government departments, non-government agencies those were working for the development of the state in several sectors like education, health, employment, skill development and urban development," said Abhishek. It will bring together all the start-up enthusiasts and aspiring entrepreneurs from all over the state to establish network, partnership and to know the start-up policy of the government, he added.
