National Girl Child Day

The Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan celebrated National Girl Child Day on its Saidpur campus on Tuesday, where officials from health, education and cooperative departments among others acquainted kids about the various children-oriented schemes and programmes run by the Bihar government.

Governor Ramnath Kovind, Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan director Jyoti Parihar, Unicef state chief Asadur Rahman were among the dignitaries who were present at the programme. "The education department stall gave the children career counselling while body mass index of the children were measured at the health department stall," said Parihar.

A three-minute film, Aisi Hai Kilkari, and another short film on the Unicef's work were screened at the programme.

Tech cradle fest

The National Institute of Technology-Patna was busy with activities on Tuesday, the third day of its techno-cultural fest. Participants competed impromptu, street play, debate (Hindi and English), quiz, singing competition, web weaver (computer coding and programming) and open hardware competitions.

The institute's literature club organised a "minute to win" competition in which 40 students had to solve crosswords with two-word hints within 60 seconds.

A cement company organised a workshop for architecture students with the officials giving a PowerPoint presentation on cladding (covering or coating on a structure), building and structuring bridges.

The company has launched a contest and the top three winners will be awarded Rs 40,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000, respectively. Nearly 60 students have registered for the competition, and would have to present their architecture model within a week.
