Treat for film buffs

Art, culture and youth affairs minister Shiv Chandra Ram on Friday inaugurated the Patna Film Festival at Regent Fun Cinemas.

The programme began with the national anthem and the Bihar anthem. Ram said many directors wanted to shoot their films in Bihar now. "Films are meant for entertainment and deliver a social message. This year, the audience can watch Hollywood, Bollywood and Bhojpuri films at Regent and Rabindra Bhavan," he said.

Pollution alert

Education minister Ashok Choudhary inaugurated a two-day seminar on "Chemical pollutant: effect on environment and health" at Patna Women's College jointly organised by its chemistry department and Magadh Mahila College.

Addressing the participants, chairman of Bihar State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, R.C. Sinha said air pollution was taking place at every scale, from local to global.
