Helping hand for poor kids

Lions Club of Patna Femina donated stationery items, books and snacks to the economically poor students of Sister Nivedita Primary School on Wednesday as part of their Hunger Poverty project.

More than 65 students between the age group of 5 to 14 received the items. President of the club Anita Krishna appreciated the teachers for their service. Twenty-four members of the club accompanied Anita. "We donated books so that the children develop a reading habit. This is a great initiative to reach out to the poor and underprivileged kids to help them with their studies," said Anita. School principal Nivedita appreciated the efforts put up by the members of Lions Club for their care and support towards the children. Preeti, a 10 year old girl said that I am thankful to the club for the story books because I love reading stories.

Film festival

A short film made by the students of Central University of South Bihar, Gaya, has been selected for the screening as well as competition at National Science Film Festival. The competition will be organised by Vigyan Prasar, at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai from February 9 to 13.

The film titled Tap, twist and turn the PIEZO way to Smart Electricity was made and produced by the students of BSc-BEd programme. The film was made by a team of six students, Aman Ranjan, Supriya, Kushagra Rohatgi, Megha Vatsa, Shubham Kumar Lal and Sudha Sinha, under the supervision of Amiya Priyam, assistant professor, department of chemistry. Out of 144 films seven were selected for the screening.

Aman, a student of B.Sc- B.Ed (third year) said: "This movie is an attempt to create awareness about one of the smartest ways of producing electricity, which is a simpler, greener and economical solution to the prevailing energy crisis. The students show how the concept can be used for production of electricity on a mass scale."
