Financial seminar

The 20th state level co-ordination committee meeting on non-banking finance companies (NBFC) was held at the state secretariat on Tuesday.

The regional office of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) convened the meeting. M.K. Verma, RBI regional director for Bihar and Jharkhand, chaired the meeting.

Verma said: "It was decided that RBI will forward a proposal to the state government for granting exemption from the provisions of Bihar Moneylenders Act (1974) to NBFCs registered with respective regulators that grant registration for carrying out credit activities."

Engineers' Day

The Institution of Engineers (India) on Tuesday celebrated the 48th Engineers' Day on its premises.

Engineers Day is observed every year on September 15 to mark the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna late Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.

Arun Kumar Shrivastava, a council member of The Institution of Engineers (India), said in his address: "The world expects engineers to translate their skill and knowledge into technologies to suit global challenges."

Awareness meet

Confederation of Indian Industry organised a seminar on the topic - Ready to Vote 2015 - at Magadh Mahila College on Tuesday.

Over 200 students of political science department attended the seminar. R. Lakshmanan, the additional chief electoral officer, Bihar, was the key speaker at the event. He urged students to vote in the upcoming Assembly polls.
