Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday underlined the importance of the judiciary while addressing the annual general conference of Bihar Judicial Services Association.
He said: "The judiciary is not just a profession but a huge responsibility on the part of the practitioners."
Acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court I.A. Ansari said: "Subordinate courts are the backbone of the judiciary and the heartbeats of the high courts and the Supreme Court."
Others who spoke on the occasion were Patna High Court judges Justice V.N. Sinha and Justice Navaniti Prasad Singh.
Club election
Orthopaedic surgeon Amulya Kumar Singh was elected the new president of Lions Club of Patliputra Aastha. He took charge during the installation ceremony of the club, organised on Sunday. Another doctor, Amlesh Kumar, was elected secretary.
Amulya said he would try to give his best to make sure the various programmes of the club ran smoothly, with the help of the other members.
State election commissioner A.K. Chouhan hailed the organisation for carrying out various public welfare programmes.
