Cleanliness drive
Over 1,500 students from classes VI to X took part in a sanitation drive organised by DAV Public School, BSEB, on its premises on Tuesday.
An interactive session was held between the students and the school helpers. Other activities included poster making competition, slogan writing and a demonstration class on sanitation.
Students made placards and vowed to keep the school premise and its surrounding roads clean. They also pledged to clean their homes and public places. Principal V.S. Ojha said: "Students learn dignity of labour through such initiatives."
The activities were organised under the guidance of a faculty member Nisha Pankaj.
Elocution contest
Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and the Union ministry of youth affairs and sports organised a state-level elocution competition at Gandhi Sangrahalaya on Tuesday.
The topic of the competition was "patriotism and nation-building". Students participated from different parts of the state, including Bhojpur, Kaimur, Jehanabad, Patna, Siwan and Sitamarhi. Former Chief Justice of Patna High Court Rajendra Prasad was the chief guest.
Namita Kumari from Lakhisarai bagged the first prize and won the cash prize of Rs 25,000. Manish Manorajan from Chappra (Saran) finished second and won Rs 10,000. Karmveer Kumar from Muzaffarpur finished third and won Rs 5,000.
