Patna: RBI governor Urjit Patel chaired the central board meeting here on Thursday, eight years after such a meeting was last hosted here.

Senior officials of the central bank, including various directors, were present on the occasion. The last such meeting was held here in 2010 when D, Subbarao was the RBI governor.

A senior RBI official said central board meetings are held by rotation in different cities of the country and it was Patna's turn this time.

Patel had arrived in the city on Wednesday evening and had met deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi over dinner. After presiding over the central board meeting on Thursday, he and top RBI officials moved to a hotel for a 'conference lunch' before catching a flight to Mumbai in the afternoon.

None of the officials, including governor Patel, shared anything with the media and remained tight-lipped over the issues discussed.

However, sources said the prevailing economic condition in the country and the world as well as economic policies were discussed.
