Patna, July 8: Jan Adhikar Party national convener Pappu Yadav today feared a threat to his life, a day before setting out on a march against alleged lawlessness in the state under the Nitish Kumar-Lalu Prasad alliance.
The Madhepura MP would undertake the padyatra from tomorrow. He claimed Nitish and Lalu could do anything for the sake of power, including hatching a conspiracy to kill him during the protest march.
"I demand the deputation of a magistrate and complete videography during my padyatra because Nitish and Lalu can go to any extent to create hurdles in my path. They can even kill me, they are anti-people and the present situation in the state gives a clear picture that they want a war on caste lines for the sake of votebanks," Pappu said at the party office in Kidwaipuri.
Starting from Patna around 9am and meeting the people, he would halt in Bakhtiyarpur - the place of Nitish's ancestral home - 50km east of Patna on Thursday night. The next day, he would address a public meeting in Barh.
Earlier, too, Pappu had wished to visit Barh to protest against the poor law and order situation but was denied by the government. As part of his padyatra, he would also leave for Ara, around 50km west of Patna, next week.
Pappu called Lalu an adopted son of RSS and said he ruled Bihar for 15 years because of the BJP's support.
"If Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur, (Ram Manohar) Lohia and Jaya Prakash Narayan were alive today, they would have launched a campaign against Lalu and Nitish who call themselves their follower. Everyone knows that Lalu had felicitated the Bhagalpur riot accused. As far as my security is concerned, my party has already given a written application to the district administration, demanding a magistrate and videography facilities."
Asked about joining the NDA - of which BJP is the senior partner - Pappu said he has not done anything about it. " Woh raja aur hum rank hai (They are prince and I am a pauper). They will decide whom to take and whom to reject. But I have not given any application to join the NDA," he stressed.
There has been a lot of talk recently about Pappu joining the NDA but BJP leaders have termed it baseless.
