Controversial Madhepura MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav has landed in trouble for allegedly inciting students to immolate themselves in front of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) office on July 4.

An FIR was lodged against Pappu with the Buddha Colony police station on Sunday.

Pappu, the president of Jan Adhikar Party (Loktantrik), has extended his support to the agitation launched by the examinees of the BPSC mains examination.

The students are miffed at the decision of the BPSC to conduct main examination from July 8 to 30. They alleged that they would have to face problems in dealing with preliminary test conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

The UPSC has announced to conduct preliminary test from August 7.

"Since the two examinations are different in nature (preliminary test and mains), the students will not get sufficient time for their preparations. The students have to suffer if the dates of the BPSC main examinations are not extended," said an aspirant of the UPSC examination.

The examinees have threatened to immolate themselves in front of the office of the BPSC on Monday if their demands were not met. "We are running from the pillar to post to change the dates of the examination but nobody is ready to listen to our problems," alleged the examinees.

The BPSC, on the other hand, is adamant on its decision to hold the examination on scheduled dates.

"We have already released grants for the main examinations (56th to 59th). Around 25,000 examinees will take part in the examinations to be conducted at 40 centres in Patna," BPSC secretary P.K. Sinha said.

Sinha said he would hold a meeting with the district magistrate to ensure free and fair examination.

The troublemakers would be dealt sternly, he said and added that foolproof security arrangements would be made all the examination centres.
