Patna, Feb. 24: RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav is all set to say goodbye to party chief Lalu Prasad - for the third time in his political career.

Pappu, who has been vocal in his support to former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi during the political turmoil, has decided to send his resignation from the party.

He was also furious over the comments made by Lalu's younger son Tejaswi asking Pappu to mend his ways. Pappu would send his resignation on February 27 after the wedding of Lalu's youngest daughter Raj Laxmi scheduled on February 26.

Pappu expressed strong reservation over the stand of the RJD during the Manjhi episode in which the party stood by Nitish Kumar extending his support in the removal of the Mahadalit leader from the chief minister's post.

Pappu has had a love-and-hate relationship with Lalu ever since he won as an Independent MLA way back in 1989. He once proclaimed himself as the self-appointed Hanuman of Lalu only to denounce the RJD chief again and again.

He has political influence in the Kosi region - Purnea, Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura. That is the reason Lalu keeps giving him tickets despite the fact that he knows that Pappu cannot be trusted. His wife, the Congress MP Ranjita Ranjan, and Pappu are the only couple to make it to the Lok Sabha in the last parliamentary polls. 'I have decided to send my resignation to Lalu on February 27. I will write a letter to him expressing my stand on Manjhi. Attached to it would be a letter of resignation. It would be my humble request (to Lalu) to accept my resignation,' Pappu told The Telegraph today.

Ever since the political turmoil started in the state, the MP from Madhepura was at the forefront to save Manjhi's government. He tried his level best to solicit support of MLAs for Manjhi. However, the scenario took a different turn on February 20 in which Manjhi resigned before going for the floor test.

'It was painful to see the stand of our party during the Manjhi episode. I have been pleading and telling the party chief not to support those who were responsible for sending his (read Lalu) political career into darkness. Everyone knows that JDU leader Lalan Singh was one of main petitioners against Lalu ji in the fodder scam cases,' said Pappu.
