Patna: Two JDU MLCs and party spokespersons Neeraj Kumar and Sanjay Singh on Monday wrote an open letter to Congress president Rahul Gandhi, questioning his stand on RJD chief Lalu Prasad who is in a Ranchi jail.
Mocking Rahul, both JDU leaders asked that why the Congress president, being the RJD's alliance partner, had not met Lalu in the Ranchi jail. Citing Chanakya's theory on how to differentiate between good and bad people, the JDU leader said in bad days, Rahul had turned his back on Lalu.
"Happiness and sorrow co-exist in life. People always stand by others in happiness but do not support in days of sorrow. That's when we can differentiate people according to Chanakya's theory. In the case of Lalu Prasad, the Congress president is not following the Chanakya theory. You should have gone to Birsa Munda Central Jail to sympathise with Lalu," Neeraj wrote.
Neeraj also reminded that how Rahul had dismissed the ordinance to protect convicted lawmakers and how he had tore the ordinance and threw it in Lok Sabha in 2013. Neeraj said Rahul had called the ordinance nonsense.
"We are wondering how despite tearing the ordinance, you had lunch with Tejashwi Prasad Yadav whose father is convicted in corruption case. You have two options left - either go and meet Lalu in jail or continue your fight against corruption," Neeraj wrote in the letter.
Sanjay, on other hand, reminded the words of the Congress president and wrote: "It is time to stop this nonsense, political parties, mine and all others....If you want to fight corruption in the country, whether it is the Congress party or the BJP, we cannot continue making these small compromises. These are your words after tearing the ordinance it seems you have forgotten those."
The two-page letter written in Hindi further mentions that Lalu going to jail in one of the fodder scam cases was a legal issue and nobody was above the law.
Mocking the Congress president further, Sanjay wrote: "As your well-wisher, it is my duty to inform you that as per the jail manual, three people can meet Lalu ji once a week and accordingly you can meet him. However, you are also the president of a national political party and icon in politics, so you can also be treated as special case and can meet Laluji if law allows you."
At the end of the letter, both have put their respective signatures and conveyed regards to Rahul.
