Patna: The online application process for admission in undergraduate courses at 10 state universities started on Tuesday. The varsities are LN Mithila University, Purnea University, BN Mandal University, Veer Kunwar Singh University, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Magadh University, JP University, Munger University, Patliputra University, and Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University.

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is conducting the process and students apply online till June 28.

Students who have passed Class XII or Intermediate can apply at www.ofssbihar.in. The candidates are asked to submit the name of courses applied and preference of colleges and universities while applying online. A student can choose a minimum of one preference for college and course and maximum of 20 colleges and courses.

This is the first time that there will be centralised admission for undergraduate courses in universities.

Earlier, except for Patna University which used to admit students through its entrance test, other universities admitted students separately based on marks.

"The online admission process at colleges will bring more transparency in undergraduate admission," said BSEB chairman Anand Kishor.

He said the state government has set up 2800 "Sahaj Vasudha Kendras" from where students who don't have computers and Internet at home can apply online.

Students can also apply through district registration-cum-counselling centres.

The online application fee is Rs 300.

Prem Prakash Dayal, who has cleared the Intermediate exam from BS College Danapur, said: "The education department initiative will bring more transparency in the admission process."
