Katihar, March 1: An employee of Indian Railways has found a place in the Limca Book of Records for playing a harmonica uninterruptedly for 12 hours and 22 minutes.

Thirty-three-year-old apan Kumar Singh, posted at Katihar railway station, received a certificate for his feat on February 27. Singh, a technician, had been striving to get a place in the Limca Book of Records for the past three years. Success came his way on February 27 when he received the certificate, registering him in the book of records.

Singh told The Telegraph: “I had played the harmonica for 12 hours and 22 minutes on September 28, 2010, before ward councillors Vijay Singh and Bimal Singh Begani and recorded it. I sent the recording to the office of Limca Book of Records in Gurgaon. Later, they asked me to come for a test in January 2011 and register my claim in the Limca Book of Records.”

On January 31 last year, he appeared before the officials of Limca Book of Records at its office of Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon in Haryana. Before the officials, Singh played the harmonica on five Hindi and Bengali songs.

Singh, who has received no professional training, said: “I wish to get a place in the Guinness World Records too and I have been working hard for the feat.”
