Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad has assured Sushil Kumar Modi that his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav will not create any nuisance at the deputy chief minister's son's wedding.
In a video that went viral recently, Tej Pratap was purportedly seen saying he would expose the BJP leader in public and beat him at his own home if he goes to attend Sushil's son Utkarsh's December 3 wedding.
The former health minister reportedly made the remark while addressing a public meeting in Aurangabad on November 19.
"Sushil Modi is unnecessarily scared of my son, he does not need to get scared," Lalu said after he returned from Ranchi on Thursday night. "He can peacefully celebrate his son's wedding."
The war of words between Sushil and Tej Pratap is nothing new. In March, Sushil, who was then Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, had said that Tej Pratap has time to play the flute and make jalebis but has no time to answer questions related to his department in both Houses. As health minister, Tej often skipped Assembly proceedings.
Lalu, however, skipped a question on whether he himself would attend Sushil's son's wedding, instead launching an attack on Sushil and chief minister Nitish Kumar over the alleged spurt in crime.
"There are so many scams and the crime graph is rising," Lalu said. "Don't you see jungle raj (lawlessness) in Bihar now? Sushil Modi should speak on this issue. Can't he see there is a collapse of law and order in the state?"
Told about Lalu's comment that he need not fear his son, Sushil told The Telegraph: "I was not scared even during Lalu's regime when lawlessness was peaking in the state. So, there is no question of getting scared now."
He further said: "Lalu ji should have called me to apologise for his son's remarks. He should have condemned and rebuked his son for his remarks. But he is indirectly defending him by issuing such comments. He is so scared of his son that he cannot even ask Tej Pratap not to use such language."
