Jet cancels flight

Patna: The Jet Airways evening flight on Calcutta-Patna-Calcutta route did not operate on Tuesday because of operational hitches, said a Jet official. The passengers were informed in advance and all were accommodated on a Kingfisher flight.As the passengers were informed in advance we did not face any last-minute rush. All those who turned up were accommodated on the Kingfisher flight,” said the official.

Strike

Motihari: Office bearers and members of Kar Data Samiti (Tax Payers’ Committee), who have been protesting the hike in taxes by the municipal council for the past few years, had called for a strike on Tuesday.

SBI branch

Complaint

Patna: Bihar Rajya Vano Ke Chhatra Padadhikari Sewa Sangh (state forest rangers’ association) has expressed concern over the state government’s failure to draw out a plan for the management of forests. The association vice-president said no guards have been appointed in the past 27 years.

Dharna

Patna: Members of All India Students Federation staged a dharna in front of AN College on Tuesday to protest the decision of the authorities not to allow their meeting on the premises. The meeting was scheduled to be held in the Library Hall.

Visit called off

Gaya: The two-day Bodhgaya visit of D.M. Jayaratne, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, from February 16, has been cancelled because of religious and political reasons. He was supposed to visit Bodhgaya with a sapling of the Bodhi tree from Anuradhapuram in Sri Lanka, to be planted on the campus of the temple.
