Couple found dead

Patna: A couple — Ashok Malaviya and Savitri Devi — were found dead in their house in the Mubarkpur area on Sunday morning. Articles were found scattered all over, suggesting that the assailants might have killed the couple after robbing them.olice said prima facie it appeared to be a murder case as the victims’ bodies had wounds inflicted by sharp weapons.

Gangrape

Patna: Four persons allegedly gangraped a middle-aged woman in the Kanti factory area under Agamkuan police station late on Saturday night. The residents of the area caught two of the accused, while the rest fled.

Assault

Patna: Rameshwar Singh, a sub-inspector at Central Investigation Department, was allegedly beaten up in full public view under Gardanibagh police station on Sunday. Police sources said Singh was beaten up for allegedly assaulting a woman.

Arrest

Sasaram: Four Maoists were arrested from Samhuta village under Kargahar police station in Rohtas while they were planning a major operation in the area on Sunday.

Murder

Sasaram: Armed criminals shot dead a pregnant woman before looting cash and valuables worth about Rs 2 lakh from her house at Shahpur village under Chenari police station in Rohtas on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Susheela Devi.

Project

Patna: Believers Church launched a poverty alleviation project on Sunday at its Diocesan centre and distributed 13 sewing machines, three rickshaws, four handcarts and four tri-cycles to the differently abled.

Jab at Lalu

Patna: BJP spokesperson Sudhir Kumar Sharma on Sunday slammed RJD chief Lalu Prasad for questioning if chief minister Nitish Kumar was secular. Sharma also referred to Lalu as an “opportunist”.
