Scheme bribe arrest

Patna: Vigilance Investigation Bureau sleuths on Thursday caught a Mohni panchayat secretary in Purnea district while accepting Rs 6,000 bribe from complainant Shiva Shankar Sarkar to allegedly release Indira Awas Yojana funds.

The official, Kumaresh Prasad Yadav, has been brought to Patna for interrogation.

Arrest

Muzaffarpur: Four alleged extortionists were arrested from the Ahiyapur area on Thursday. Police found Rs 22 lakh in their possession.

Fire

Patna: A fire broke out at a transformer repair workshop in Rajvanshi Nagar on Thursday. Around six fire tenders were put into service to douse the fire. Around 12 transformers are repaired at the workshop every day.

Renovation

Patna: Transport minister Brishen Patel on Thursday ordered the administrator of Sultan Palace, the headquarters of Bihar State Road Transport Corporation, to renovate the building.

Theft

Patna: A theft was reported from the godown of the surgical ward of Patna Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday night, according to a written complaint on Thursday.

Exam

Patna: All India Students’ Federation on Thursday alleged that the examination for secretariat assistant was not conducted impartially by Bihar Staff Selection Commission.

Request

Patna: Nikhat Perween, a resident of Darbhanga district, met RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Thursday and sought his intervention into the arrest of her husband from Al Jubail in Saudi Arabia.

Visit

Patna: Vrinda Swaroop, additional secretary in the Union human resource and development ministry, will visit Patna on Friday.

Rebel held

Patna: A suspected Maoist, Sikandar Paswan, was arrested at Bharkuyian village in Rohtas district on Thursday.
