RBI nod to 148 branches

Patna: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given permission to open 148 new branches of different banks in the state.BI deputy governor Shymala Gopinath announced the move on Friday during her meeting with deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

Fire death

Patna: Five members, including four minors, of a family died in a fire that broke out at Pirauchha village under Gaighat block of Muzaffarpur district on Friday.

New judge

Patna: Chief Justice of the high court Rekha M. Doshit on Friday administered oath to Prakash Chandra Verma as a new judge of the high court.

Power

Patna: The power situation improved a bit on Friday with state getting 982MW of electricity against the scheduled allocation of 1,722MW from the central sector.

Patna: Punaichak residents blocked Bailey Road resisting the administration’s move to remove illegal encroachments.

Poison

Katihar: One Sanjay Mahato allegedly poisoned five persons through his cream rolls. They are being treated at Katihar Sadar Hospital. Mahato is absconding, said police.
